FAQ

Do you offer something different than other clinics?

I have opened my in-home clinic as an alternative veterinary center. My goal is to make it easier to own a pet by choosing the services you desire for your pet without policies and required procedures and tests creating a situation where it is nearly unaffordable to own a pet. You may also choose to bring your pet to me or we can schedule an appointment at your home. The goal is to obviously choose the least
stressful avenue for your pet while meeting the needs of the pet.

In not requiring yearly procedures and tests for your pet I am putting the choice and responsibility on you to make the health care choices. If you choose to forego bloodwork, heartworm testing, etc I respect that. Should that decision prove wrong and your pet develops an illness that bloodwork may have revealed sooner, I will try to guide you in the next decisions so that we are striving for good health overall. I will not be liable for decisions you have made.

My program will offer limited services. I will not be able to address emergencies, and will not be available after hours and on weekends.

My clinic has a nonslip floor for easier movement of arthritic pets.

Do you keep a full inventory of products?

I will keep a limited inventory of flea, tick and heartworm products on hand but am connected with an online pharmacy for those purchases. You place your order and the pharmacy contacts me for approval. It is quite simple.

I keep an ample supply of medications for basic needs.

Do you send health care reminders?

I am attempting to keep costs low and affordable as well by not computerizing and buying expensive equipment. Without computerization I will not be able to provide yearly reminders. Please keep good records so that you know when your pets are due
for something.

Do you offer dental services?

Dental procedures offered include basic cleaning, polishing and extractions. Dental xrays and preanesthetic bloodwork are not required. This greatly reduces the cost.

The basic cost begins at $250 for a small dog, with extractions and medications being extra. Most dentals finish out around $350 to $400.

What else do we need to be aware of?

Whether in your home or mine you must be able to restrain your pet for an exam. If you are unable to do the restraint please have a helper to assist. If there is concern about anxiety for the pet, please discuss this with me as we may want to do some preappointment anxiety medication, for the sake of the pet and everyone involved.

Occasionally I am contacted about inhome visits because an animal can no longer be transported to a clinic. But occasionally it is because the animal is far too stressed to enter a clinic. Though I hope to help with these scenarios, please be honest with me
so that proper precautions are taken and no one is hurt or stressed,…not the pet, not me, not you. If you honestly cannot control your pet or it may get protective of the home, this needs to be stated at the start and we can decide how to proceed.

All pets must be on a leash or in a carrier on arrival. Our home is located in a large timber and dogs are often tempted to go check out the new territory!

What are your hours?

I am trying to enjoy semi-retirement with limited hours. For this reason, I will offer services from 9-3 weekdays, and during these times will be available to field calls and concerns as well.

Contact me with any questions you may have. I am interested in developing long term relationships with owners and pets in which we work for a mutual goal of prolonging the life of your pet.

I love this profession, meeting people, and caring for pets and feel that I have much to give to this profession yet.

I love the human-animal bond and what it brings to the physical and emotional health of both the owner and pet.

What is the Feral Cat/TNR program?

I applaud anyone willing to put in the effort to help the unhomed pets of the area and the Trap-Neuter-Release programs exist to eliminate their ability to reproduce, give them a jump start with a Rabies vaccine and other items as deemed necessary per cat….deworming, ear mite or flea treatment, Leukemia testing, wound treatment and antibiotic injection.

I offer discount services for this program and can do as many as 10 cats per appointment.

Cats may arrive in a carrier or trap. I have the additional cages and nets to handle the most nervous and scared animals.
